Fran Smyth
Manager of Arts & Business Services ABC/NY
Fran Smyth, Manager of Arts and Business Services at Arts & Business Council of New York, has worked in both the nonprofit and commercial sectors. She held positions at several companies, most notably MetLife and Bear Stearns, before deciding to make the full-time transition to the arts. She has volunteered with the Borough of Manhattan Community College, CSC Repertory where she served as Board Chair for several years, 14th Street B.I.D where she was both a Board and Executive Committee member, Cooper-Hewitt Library, and Inside Broadway where she was a Board member and chaired the Fund-Raising Committee. She was the managing director of Risa Jaroslow and Dancers and interim general manager at Pan Asian Repertory Theatre. She was an adjunct assistant professor at New York University for 16 years. She currently serves on the Advisory Board of Wingspan Arts and the Artistic Board of Gingold Theatrical Group.
Fran has a B.S. in mathematics from Polytechnic University and an M.B.A. from Baruch College. She holds a NASD Series 7 License (now inactive). Fran became familiar with the Arts & Business Council years ago when she first began as a Business Volunteer for the Arts (BVA), and was later named BVA of the year.
