Emily Buss joined Americans for the Arts in 2016 as Leadership Alliances Coordinator. Prior to that, she worked as Program Assistant in the Global Europe Program at the Wilson Center. She has also interned in the Public Affairs Office of the U.S. Mission to the European Union in Brussels, Belgium, and in the Government Affairs Department at Dance/USA. She taught at the Champaign Ballet Academy and served as Ballet Mistress and Outreach Coordinator at the Champaign Urbana Ballet Company for a number of years.

Emily began studying ballet at the age of four and continues to dance and perform. She is committed to advancing the arts, and is also interested in cultural diplomacy and how the arts inform countries' relationships with one another. Emily holds an M.A. in European Studies - with a focus on cultural diplomacy - from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, a B.A. in Political Science and French from Wellesley College, and spent a year studying at the University of Geneva and the Graduate Institute for International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland.
