Susan Saloom

Military and Veterans Arts Initiative Field Specialist

Susan began work at Americans for the Arts as an AmeriCorps VISTA member working with the National Initiative for Arts & Health in the Military, serving as a combined advocate supporting access to the arts for servicemembers, veterans, their families and caregivers.  She continues beyond her AmeriCorps service year as a consultant, assisting in fund development and communications between organizations, individuals, and localized programs involved in advancing the arts for the health and well-being across the military continuum.  Susan is currently working from the Northeastern Florida region.

Prior to her work at Americans for the Arts, Susan was an art and journalism teacher with the Diocese of Palm Beach for 20 years, holds a Psychology degree from Barry University, and is a confirmed military brat.  She is a certified “Memories in the Making” facilitator with the Alzheimer’s Association and an active member of the NAEA.
