Development Associate, Corporate and Foundation Relations
Liz joined the staff of Americans for the Arts in October 2012. As Corporate & Foundation Relations Associate, Liz conducts prospect research; drafts appeal letters, proposals, and stewardship reports; helps to maintain the development database and hard files; and assists with small-scale cultivation event planning and execution. She also designs customized development stewardship pieces for use by both the Corporate & Foundation Relations and Individual Giving teams.
Before joining Americans for the Arts, Liz was the advertising manager at the Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP). She also worked on development and fundraising for George Mason University's annual literary festival, Fall for the Book, and held a development internship in the Library of Congress's Poetry & Literature Center, home of the U.S. Poet Laureate.
She is currently pursuing an MFA in creative writing (with a focus in poetry) and an Arts Management Graduate Certificate at George Mason University. Her poems have recently appeared in Crab Orchard Review, The Greensboro Review, Spoon River Poetry Review, RHINO, and elsewhere. She competed in track and cross country at the college level, completed a half marathon race in 2009, and hopes to run a marathon some day. She lives in the Capitol Hill neighborhood in Washington, DC.
