Rebecca Borden
Manager of Professional Development

Rebecca Borden comes to Americans for the Arts with a deep passion for arts education and leadership development. Previously, Rebecca was the senior associate for research at the Arts Education Partnership and a consultant for national education programs at the American Architectural Foundation. She currently serves on the Education Committee of the board of trustees at the National Building Museum and is president of her condo association. Due to her expertise in both the arts and education, Rebecca adjudicates grants for VSA arts and the U.S. Department of Education AEMDD program. A former high school chemistry teacher, Rebecca still loves being in the classroom and is an adjunct professor at the University of Virginia and the Corcoran College of Art and Design. In her free time, Rebecca takes glassblowing classes, works on carpentry renovation projects, paints oil canvases, and volunteers at the Historic Congressional Cemetery. She received her bachelor's degree in art from Williams College and her M.Ed. and Ph.D. in education at the University of Virginia. Rebecca is also trained as a life and leadership coach.
