Arts Education Program Manager

Tim Mikulski

Tim is the arts education program manager at Americans for the Arts. The principal tasks of this position are to use the tools of advocacy, research, and professional development to strengthen the network of local arts leaders who can then affect change in arts education programs and policies at the local and statewide levels.

 

Most recently, Tim served as the state and local government affairs coordinator at Americans for the Arts where he tracked legislation and ballot initiatives, documented best practices, strengthened statewide arts advocacy and grassroots networks, and promoted state and local public policies that advance the arts and arts education in America. He also worked with the State Arts Advocacy Network comprised of 71 state arts advocacy, service, and arts education executive directors from across the country.  

 

Prior to joining the staff of Americans for the Arts in 2007, Tim served in various roles within the New Jersey General Assembly. He began working as a constituent relations associate and later took on the role of research associate, serving as committee aide to the Assembly Family, Women, and Children’s Services Committee.  For his last years with the Majority Office, he served as acting director of constituent relations. Just prior to joining Americans for the Arts, Tim was the policy director for Assemblywoman Nilsa Cruz-Perez, primarily focusing on education, human services, consumer affairs, housing, and veterans’ policy.

 

A Southern New Jersey native, Tim graduated from The College of New Jersey in Ewing with a B.A. in political science and minor in journalism.
