Membership and Data Associate
Ashley McDonald joins Americans for the Arts as the membership and data associate.
Previously, she worked as the marketing coordinator for the Brentwood Arts Exchange (BAE), an arts facility of the Department of Parks and Recreation for Prince George’s County. During her time at Brentwood, she developed and implemented a comprehensive marketing plan for BAE's exhibitions, classes, and events. She also assisted the gallery’s leadership in doubling revenue over the course of a year. Before working with the Brentwood Arts Exchange, she served as an AmeriCorps VISTA member for Arts on the Block (AOB), in Montgomery County, MD.
As an VISTA member she successfully co-designed and launched a two-part evaluation designed to determine the long term impacts of AOB's programming on more than 200 of its alumni. After reaching out to the local business community, she successfully secured sponsorships from two businesses and with the help of staff surpassed the survey response goal. She also helped to increase Arts on the Block's facebook fan following and cultivated partnerships with similar organizations using social media.
A Michigan native, Ashley worked as an intern with Michigan Opera Theatre shortly after receiving her B.A., with honors, from Eastern Michigan University’s Arts Management program in 2009, where she also received a minor in marketing. Ashley moved to DC from Michigan during the summer of 2010 to complete her year with AmeriCorps. Since moving to the area, she has become very involved and knowledgeable about the DC arts community. As a member of DC’s Emerging Arts Leaders Network she regularly attends networking events and conferences.
