Kate Lockard rejoined the staff at Americans for the Arts in March of 2010 after taking time to travel through Australia and New Zealand. As a member of the meetings and events team, Kate worked on ArtsVote2008 events at both Democratic and Republican National Convention events and the National Art Awards. Returning to her role in the Meetings and Events department, Kate will be working on Arts Advocacy Day, the National Art Policy Roundtable, and supporting the team with all other events.
Prior to joining Americans for the Arts, Kate planned events and conferences for her alma mater, James Madison University, and went on to plan numerous conferences of up to 1,400 people for SmithBucklin in Washington, DC. A lifelong art enthusiast, Kate enjoyed and participated in theater throughout her adolescence. As a celebrated member of the Maryland All State theater troupe, she successfully directed her own high school theater productions. Kate graduated with a B.A. in English literature, and also spent time studying Spanish during her semester abroad at Pablo de Olivade in Sevilla, Spain.
