Eric Delli Bovi joined Urban Gateways in 2012 during a time of significant transition within the organization and throughout Chicago’s schools and neighborhoods. The Urban Gateways mission is to educate and inspire young people by providing high-quality arts experiences that advance their personal and academic growth. Under Mr. Delli Bovi’s leadership, the organization increased both youth participation and instructional time by over 50% within one year. Urban Gateways is one of the largest arts service providers in Chicago and is a strategic partner for the President’s Committee on Arts and Humanities’ Turnaround Arts initiative. Prior to joining Urban Gateways, Mr. Delli Bovi led the Old Town School of Folk Music’s capital campaign for a new arts education facility and oversaw unprecedented growth in fundraising to support a wide array of education and performance initiatives. Over his 12-year tenure, Mr. Delli Bovi served as interim executive director, director of external affairs, director of education outreach, and percussion faculty member. In 2010, Mr. Delli Bovi earned a prestigious fellowship from The Chicago Community Trust to explore new models in arts education, and was elected to the Emerging Leaders Council for the Americans for the Arts in 2005 to assist in the development of new community arts leaders. Mr. Delli Bovi holds an M.A from DePaul University with a focus in directing and developing community arts education organizations, and a B.A. from Ithaca College in Social Studies/Secondary Education. A professional musician, Mr. Delli Bovi also continues to perform in the local music scene.
