Americans for the Arts is now accepting nominations for the Public Leadership in the Arts Awards. These annual awards honor elected officials for their consistent and outstanding support and promotion of the arts and the creative economy. 

Please briefly state how your nominee has demonstrated their support for the arts and the creative economy. Clearly identify their community arts contributions, measurable impact on the arts and arts education, facts and figures of accomplishments, innovative style and leadership, and your work, if any, with the nominee.

Please limit your nominating statement to under 5,000 characters. Submissions that exceed this amount will be rejected.

Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required. Letters of Recommendation are welcomed, but not required.

Awards are presented at the conferences of each award’s associated public partner:

The Local Leadership Awards for Mayors will be presented at The United States Conference of Mayors Winter Conference January 17-19, 2024 in Washington, DC.

The State Leadership Award for Governor will be presented at The United States Conference of Mayors Winter Conference January 17-19, 2024 in Washington, DC.

The County Leadership Award will be presented at the National Association of Counties Annual Conference July 12-15 2024 in Hillsborough County, (Tampa) Florida.

The City Council Leadership Award will be presented at the National League Cities of Annual Conference November  2024 in Tampa, Florida.

Nominations for awards are generally accepted up to approximately six weeks prior to each award presentation but can be made at any time of the year.
