The arts unlock the mind and open doors to creativity that can permeate the very essence of our being. That's why teaching the arts to children is so essential to their education. Creativity is needed to enhance all forms of learning, from music, to literature, to math and science principles. Without it, the capacity to truly understand and comprehend is limited. This is not pie In the sky theory, but documented fact.

In my own life, instruction in music education at a young age in public schools was a game changer. It opened my mind to a world of sound that helped me find the rhythm of my soul. My teachers back then were more than guides, they inspired me and challenged me to discover that my love of music could become a motivating factor in developing a life-long love of learning.

I believe we all have a responsibility to make the arts available to anyone - regardless of who they are and where they live - who seek a greater truth and understanding of life and what it has to offer. That's why I'm proud to be a member of the Artists Committee of Americans for the Arts, a powerful army of advocates who understand the importance of making the arts accessible to all.
