The Foundation Directory, 1992 Edition; Supplement

GENERAL

Research Abstract
The Foundation Directory, 1992 Edition; Supplement

The Foundation Directory is one of the first tools grantseekers should use to identify foundations that might be interested in funding their project or organization. It provides basic descriptions and current fiscal data for the nation's largest foundations - those with assets of $1 million or more or annual giving of at least $100,000. The Supplement serves as a companion volume to the annual Directory, providing updated information on foundations that have reported substantial changes in personnel, name, address, program interests, limitations, application procedures, or other areas by the midpoint of the yearly Directory cycle. Grantseekers should consult the Supplement to find the most current information about foundations they have identified as prospects through the Directory or other sources. In addition, the Supplement may be used to identify foundations that have recently expanded or changed the focus of their giving to incorporate new subjects, types of support, or geographic areas.

The Directory Supplement contains updated entries for 2,001 foundations that have reported substantial changes since the publication of the 1992 edition of the Foundation Directory in March. Complete entries are provided for 1,950 foundations with changes in areas affecting current staff and programs. To aid in identifying new information quickly, the sections of an entry that have changed are highlighted in bold type. A section called Other Changes at the end of some entries provides additional information.

The Supplement also contains abbreviated listings for 51 foundations that have ceased operations, merged with another foundation, or have otherwise become ineligible for inclusion during this period. These entries consist only of the foundation's name and city, with a statement explaining the change in status.
