Heather Spooner, MA, ATR-BC

Veterans living in rural areas face many health disparities and have greater difficulty accessing needed care. Heather Spooner works with the University of Florida's Center for Arts in Medicine telehealth-based art therapy clinical demonstration project at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center, which addresses the needs of rural Veterans by providing them with supervised art therapy in their own home.

Heather is an artist, art therapist, an arts in medicine advocate, and is a frequent speaker on topics related to arts and health including the relationship of neuroscience and the arts, the arts in pediatric healthcare, and the unification of various arts and health professionals. An Assistant Scholar with the UF Center for Arts in Medicine, Heather is also the acting President of the the Board of Directors at Arts for Health Florida, offering arts and health integration services throughout the state.
