Young Arts Professionals
Training and Connecting the Next Generation of Arts Leaders
The arts in America cannot thrive without an empowered, connected and well-prepared next generation of arts leaders. For that reason, Americans for the Arts supports the growth of talented young arts professionals through programs like our Emerging Leaders Network, our Art Leadership Classrooms, our national and local convenings, and more.
You should start by reading this: Starting a Local Emerging Leaders Network
There may be some local groups you can join! View our list of Local Emerging Leaders Networks.
Take a look here for a compilation of resources.
The Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE) is the best resource for you. The directory offered on their website is not an endorsement of any particular program, but rather a jumping off point for you to begin your search for the right program!
First, connect with people already in the field (network)!
Second, learn as much as you can about the field’s career options and issues (study).
And, third, get involved locally or nationally (volunteer & intern).
The Listserv is a forum to discuss urgent issues and get input from your peers or maybe share a thought-provoking article or news item or receive regular scholarship and fellowship information. (You must be a member of Americans for the Arts to subscribe).
The Emerging Leader Council is an elected working advisory body to Americans for the Arts and assists in developing programs and resources to promote professional development and networking opportunities for emerging arts professionals nationwide.
