Joint Preconference Opening Reception
Thursday, June 1, 6:30 p.m.– 8:30 p.m., Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design
Get in the swing of things at a joint preconference reception at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD), one of the nation’s leading visual arts colleges. Sip some wine, nosh on appetizers, check out MIAD’s galleries, then explore the Historic Third Ward and RiverWalk. This turn-of-the-century warehouse and manufacturing district houses Milwaukee’s best-kept secrets: the highest concentration of art galleries in the city; treasure-filled antique shops; lively restaurants and night spots; unique specialty stores; and creative studios for architects, advertising agencies, graphic designers, and artists. The Historic Third Ward is also home to the Milwaukee Public Market, the Eisner American Museum of Advertising and Design, and the Broadway Theater complex.

Opening Reception—A River Flows Through It
Saturday, June 3, 6:00 p.m.– 9:00 p.m.
Enjoy an opening reception at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, a model collaborative facility believed to be the first of its kind in the nation, home of First Stage Children’s Theater and the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra. Wine and dine at a variety of food stations featuring Milwaukee’s ethnic cuisine; enjoy performances by the young artists in the five rehearsal halls; visit the costume shop, music, and theater libraries; and more. Dedicated to training young people in the performing arts, enhancing young people’s lives through the arts, and creating a passion for the arts that inspires the next generation of audiences, the facility has been hailed as a national model for arts education.

Milwaukee is celebrating RiverSplash this weekend. Following the reception, you’ll find yourself in the midst of 10 square blocks of music, food, and fun along Milwaukee’s downtown RiverWalk. Take a ride down the river in a water taxi, stroll the riverwalks to enjoy the public art installations, or dance the night away at one of the hot RiverSplash performance stages.

Emerging Leader Reception
Sunday, June 4, 7:00 p.m.– 8:30 p.m., Yaffa Restaurant & Lounge
Mix and mingle with fellow emerging leaders at Yaffa Restaurant & Lounge, a beautiful Mediterranean experience right on the river in Milwaukee. Emerging leaders will love the beautiful décor, mouth-watering Signature martini menu and the location––within walking distance from the hotel, with an outside patio along the RiverWalk. Appetizers will be abundant, martinis and other beverages will flow at the cash bar, and networking with old friends and new colleagues will be optimal at this emerging Americans for the Arts tradition.

Americans for the Arts Action Fund Reception Fundraiser Featuring Peter Yarrow
Monday, June 5, 4:00 p.m.– 5:30 p.m., Hilton Milwaukee City Center in the Monarch Ballroom, Main Lobby
Join legendary folk singer Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul & Mary) whose music and advocacy have influenced and inspired four generations of Americans.  Peter will perform and speak about his music program for children entitled “Operation Respect.”  This reception fundraiser is for citizen members and those interested in joining the Arts Action Fund. Existing members will have the opportunity to contribute to the Arts Action Fund PAC to help elect pro-arts candidates. The Arts Action Fund was created to spearhead a national movement to educate and engage citizens in legislative and other public advocacy in support of the arts and arts education.  Please join us along with Peter Yarrow at this reception fundraiser and show your support for advancing the arts in America. Contributions to Americans for the Arts Action Fund or its Arts Action Fund PAC are not tax deductible as charitable donations for federal income tax purposes. Minimum membership contribution: $20.  Not paid for by Americans for the Arts or any government entity.

Closing Extravaganza—Or How I Learned to Stop Hating Buildings and Love Architecture
Monday, June 5, 7:00 p.m.– 10:00 p.m., Milwaukee Art Museum
The closing reception will be held in the stunning new Santiago Calatrava-designed addition to the Milwaukee Art Museum (MAM). The magnificent facility is the nation’s first building by this internationally lauded architect. With its movable winged brise soleil; its mixture of white concrete, glass, white marble, and maple wood; and its breathtaking views of Lake Michigan, this addition is itself a work of art. Enjoy MAM’s featured exhibition, then take flight and party in this winged wonder, dining and dancing to one of Milwaukee’s hottest bands, Paul Cebar and the Milwaukeeans.
