So you’re in Miami in November, and you think we’re going to let you get stuck inside for three days? Get real! How does this sound—it’s dusk, in the 70’s, a lovely breeze is coming off of the historic Miami River; tropical, Caribbean-inspired melodies are drawing you out of the Hyatt Hotel and down the river walk to a glorious outdoor patio bedecked with a paella pan the size of Lake Okeechobee (that’s very big!) loaded with enough of the aromatic traditional Cuban dish to feed, well, everybody; and refreshing cocktails to compliment the flavors perfectly. That’s how we see it. The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs welcomes you in true Miami style, and then you begin your “Sleepless Night.” Following the reception, conference attendees will be whisked off to South Beach for a one of a kind event: The First Annual Sleepless Night Event—the Cultural Takeover of Miami Beach! Sleepless Night is a collaboration among cultural institutions, theaters, galleries, and arts organizations, along with hotels, shops, clubs, restaurants, and individual artists and presenters. From 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., this 13-hour night (thanks to daylight savings time!) includes numerous indoor and outdoor arts exhibits and installations, performances, fashion shows, tours, dance, music, film, and many other cultural offerings—all presented completely free of charge! Exclusive transportation to and from South Beach will be provided to conference attendees. See the Opening Night Reception flyer in your welcome packet for the latest details on Sleepless Night Miami! Exclusive transportation to and from South Beach will be provided to conference attendees.
