Private Sector

The extremely strong attendance at The Future of Private Sector Giving to the Arts in America session, the report-out from the first annual National Arts Policy Roundtable, indicated the clear interest from the field in this work. The energy in the room confirmed that the outcomes do in fact resonate with constituents and that we have captured viable strategies to make change. It was, in short, a ringing endorsement of the new initiatives identified in the Roundtable. Other highlights were buzz created by Mark Brewer of the Community Foundation of Central Florida talking about new trends in philanthropy (in both the track’s opening and closing sessions!); Meg Jones, chair of the Americans for the Arts young benefactor’s committee, talking about what it will take to energize the next generation of arts patrons; and last but not least, the cogent, articulate, pithy comments generated by the working groups in the MetLife Foundation National Arts Forum, headlined by Sir Ken Robinson.
