Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center

Heidi Onkst joined the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland, College Park in November 2005 as the senior director of development. Her role is to provide strategic direction for a comprehensive fundraising program for the performing arts, which includes support for the School of Music, the Departments of Theatre and Dance, and the Clarice Smith Center. In addition to supervising the development staff, she is part of the center’s team of directors, and also oversees the Leadership Council. A Research I public institution, the University of Maryland is currently in a $1 billion campus-wide campaign, Great Expectations. Ms. Onkst and her staff are responsible for raising $35 million for the performing arts as part of this campaign.
