Six-day leadership retreat for young artists: 2017 Artist as Citizen Conference
Sunday, June 4, 2017 - 12:00pm
The Juilliard SchoolEvent Description
The Artist as Citizen Conference is inspired by a book by the same name written by President Joseph Polisi of The Juilliard School in which he states, "there should be no dividing line between artistic excellence and social consciousness".
This one-of-a-kind opportunity is for extraordinary young leaders in the performing and visual arts, ages 18-25, who have recognized the power of the arts to transform their communities.
The conference unites high-level professionals from a variety of intersecting fields (arts, politics, education, etc.) with highly-motivated students who are in pursuit of their own unique blend of art, commerce and activism.
Each day will feature group activities, special guest speakers, roundtable discussions, and periods of private reflection. Topics include: Developing a Personal Mission, Community Organizing, International Aid and Development, Financial Literacy, Arts Pedagogy, etc.
