The Matthews Opera House & Arts CenterEvent Description
The Matthews stage will light up the dark days of February with the last play in the Jones Hope Wooten trilogy, “The Last Round-up of the Guacamole Queens.” This community theater event will take place over two weekends, Feb. 13-15, 20-22. The Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday performances are at 2:00 p.m. This is one of The Matthews’ Subscription Series events, but tickets may be purchased individually for $15 adults, $5 youth and BHSU students. Tickets are for sale online at matthewsopera.com or by phone, 605-642-7973.
Max G. Merchen is this production’s director. “The inhabitants of Sweetgum, TX and neighboring Fayro, first warmed our hearts in 2012 with “Red Velvet Cake War,” followed in 2013 by “Rex’s Exes.” 2014 was dormant only because the play you are about to see was still being written,” remarks Merchen. This is the South Dakota premier of this Jones Hope Wooten comedy. “If you didn’t see one or both of the previous plays, never fear. This production is a stand-alone play in its own right,” continues Merchen.
