The Denver Veteran Writing Workshop
Sunday, July 17, 2016 - 3:00pm
Denver VFW Post 1Event Description
The Denver Veteran Writing Workshop will fill a void in our culture: stories of our military personnel, their families, loved ones, and friends. The DVWW will be a safe space for people to share and workshop prose, poetry, and hybrid texts. There will be a classroom element as well, but the assigned texts won't be studied for grades. Much loftier than academic assessment, the DVWW aims to create more writers. And not just writers who craft stories, but writers who can construct a curriculum and instruct, who have read in public and are working on larger projects. The DVWW wants to help people create a skillset that is applicable everywhere, not just in a classroom. A way of interpreting and processing oneself and the world through writing, reading, and community.
