International cultural policy is an area of developing interest both within the U.S. arts community and abroad. Cultural exchange programs are the most common way local artists and arts organizations interact with their global peers. There are also a number of ways that current international policy issues impact local arts communities.

United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
Headquartered in Paris, UNESCO has 193 Member States and seven Associate Member States. It is governed by the General Conference and the Executive Board. The Secretariat, headed by the Director-General, implements the decisions of these two bodies. The organization also has more than 50 field offices around the world.
International Federation of Arts Council and Culture Organizations (IFACCA)
The International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture Agencies (IFACCA) is the global network of arts councils and ministries of culture. Their aim is to benefit artists, arts organizations, and communities worldwide.Their vision is a dynamic network, sharing knowledge and creating understanding to enrich a world of artistic and cultural diversity.
