Research Services: Web-Based Surveys

Informed decisions about the arts begin with strong and credible research. Equipped with an understandable, objective picture of the social, economic, educational, and cultural benefits of the arts, leaders can shape arts policy, local government officials can show that the arts are an economically sound investment, and parents can press for more arts education in the schools.

Why conduct surveys online?
The advantages to posting surveys online are plentiful. Web-based surveys automate the tedious paper survey process so that responses are instantly submitted into a database and prepared for analysis. By hosting your survey online using our advanced web-based survey service, you are able to:

  • Pre-populate surveys with information from database tables.
  • Allow respondents to save their progress and return to the survey at a later date.
  • Automatically send an e-mail to a specified location or launch a website in response to a specified answer.
  • Monitor response rates and send customized reminder e-mails.
  • Implement branching techniques that ask detailed questions to a chosen subset of the sample.
  • Eliminate duplicate responses using Hidden ID functions.
  • Ensure data integrity.

What kinds of surveys can be conducted online?
All kinds of surveys! Typical survey project types may include audience and donor profiles, marketing and advertising evaluation, program evaluations, and membership surveys, to name a few. Typical data collection services may include web-based grant applications and information request submissions.

What do we need from you?
We require that our customers are active participants in our projects. This achieves three goals: (1) it leverages your staff’s knowledge of your community’s arts community and needs, (2) it ensures your engagement in the project and awareness of project status, and (3) it contributes significantly to our discounted project fees. These requirements include that you:

  • Develop a preliminary survey document outlining specific questions and response options.
  • Compile a list of the individuals or organizations to be surveyed, including a valid e-mail address for each individual or organization.
  • In the case of a low response-rate upon completion of two e-mail reminders, solicit participation by contacting nonrespondents individually by phone.
