Stephanie  Riven

Stephanie Riven currently serves as a consultant with the New York based arts consulting firm, David Bury & Associates. From 1987-July 2010, she was the founding executive director of the Center of Creative Arts (COCA) in St. Louis, MO, where she conceptualized, managed, and supervised COCA’s growth and development, bringing it to the fifth largest multidisciplinary community arts center in the country. COCA programs have been recognized with many awards and included in publications such as Harvard University/Project Zero’s publication, Qualities of Quality: Understanding Excellence in Arts Education. 

Riven has championed equitable access to high-quality arts education through a variety of school reform initiatives and arts integration partnerships. She has served on panels for the Missouri Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts and has received many awards including the Lifetime Achievement in the Arts Award from the Arts and Education Council of St. Louis and a Distinguished Alumna Award from Washington University. She will serve as a Visiting Practitioner in Harvard’s Graduate School of Education Arts In Education Program in 2011.
