Jessica Wilt began her career as a dancer and musician where she eventually realized she wanted to contribute to the arts world not just as a performer, but as an educator, arts administrator, writer and advocate. Ms. Wilt earned her BA in modern dance with a dance education emphasis from the University of South Florida and her MFA in choreography from The Ohio State University.
Ms. Wilt quickly learned all aspects of the arts education field working as a full time K-12 dance specialist and adjunct college professor in both Ohio and Florida. She recently founded ArtsEdTechNYC and currently is an arts education administrator, writer, community manager and consultant living in New York City.
Ms. Wilt previously served as the Education and Outreach Manager for Dance Theatre of Harlem’s Dancing Through Barriers program and as the Director of Arts Education for Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana. Actively involved in arts and education advocacy, Ms. Wilt currently co-chairs the New York City Arts in Education Roundtable's Program Committee, is a VOICE Charter School Board Trustee and is the Vice Chair of the Arts Education Council with Americans for the Arts where she is a guest ARTSblog contributor. Ms. Wilt also freelance writes on arts education, technology and politics for The Huffington Post and The Clyde Fitch Report.
