Overview
What happens when two diverse federal agencies, a regional arts organization, and a handful of community-based nonprofits get together to build a public art residency program? For starters, an innovative, ground-breaking partnership comes to life! Learn about Art & Community Landscapes, a site-based public art program that is serving as a catalyst for environmental awareness and action at the community level. A partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Park Service and the New EnglandFoundation for the Arts, Art & Community Landscapes supports artists-in-residence to work with the National Park Service, community members, and nonprofit organizations. The session will explore partnership in the context of community-driven environmental conservation initiatives, and artists leading three diverse projects in the Pacific Northwestregion will discuss issues of process and implementation.
