Tour Description
Tour participants had a lovelywalk along Portland’s newly reclaimed Eastbank Esplanade, some of which actually floats in the river. Included in the experience were four sculptures along the way by RIGGA, an artist/architect collective whose members were present to talk about their work.
Afterwards, the tour headed up to the Oregon Convention Center, which was recently expanded and houses over $2 million in public art including:
- Sculptures by Buster Simpson, who was present to discuss his work, Kristin Jones and Andrew Ginzel, Ming Fay, Michael Dente, and artisans in Asian Sister Cities
- Sound piece by Robert Coburn
- Paintings by Lucinda Parker, Bill Hoppe, Tom Fawkes, Louis Bunce, Rae Mahaffey, Rick Bartow, Isaka Shamsud-Din, and Carl Morris
- Restroom tiles by Gordan Bryan, Liz Mapelli, Dana Lynn Louis, Ronna Neuenschwander, Connie Kiener, and Sherrie Wolf
- Glass sconces by Walter White and Brent Markee
- Metal plaques by Dennis Cunningham, Terence O’Donnell, John Laursen, Lillian Pitt, Gale Tremblay, and Ken Macintosh
