Jimmy LeFlore is Public Art Manager for the City of San Antonio under its Department for Culture and Creative Development. In 12 years he has seen the program transition between departments and its funding policies rise to a full 1%. In 2008, he led a citywide public art plan to establish Public Art San Antonio (PASA), the Public Art Board, and propose new ideas such as PASA Studio, a downtown public art storefront. His experience includes master plans such as Currents & Eddies (‘05) with consultant Lorna Jordan that resulted in $10 million in privately-funded art for the Museum Reach (‘10). LeFlore recently began work to develop an art master plan for Hemisfair, a $500 million redevelopment project. In 2012 San Antonio hosted the AFTA Annual Convention and PAN Pre-Conference, where LeFlore worked to bring Google, Inc to present new public art mapping opportunities. With UTSA and VIA Metropolitan Transit, PASA was awarded a 2012 NEA Our Town grant to plan a new Riverwalk transit project. He’s completed over 100 projects and is now focusing on a 5-year, $12 million capital budget. Jimmy LeFlore is a San Antonio native and graduated from Kansas City Art Institute (‘93 Sculpture).
