At Denver Conference 

  1. Form Start-Up Task Force that is geographically and professionally diverse. Go beyond the AFA attendees. Members must agree to participate in phone or electronic conference once a week. Set up small sub-groups to address the following: Organization Structure, Membership, Fundraising, Web-site location/production
  2. Determine a Working Name:
    • Public Art Information Network (PAIN)
    • Public Art Clearinghouse (PAC)
    • Public Art Now (PAN)
    • National Public Art Clearinghouse (NPAC)
    • National Public Art Network (NPAN)

June—December/Planning

  1. Determine appropriate host, sell the idea to them
  2. Fundraise to secure seed money
  3. Form board and start-up committees
  4. Identify a director
  5. Identify web site host 

Year 1—Getting Going

  1.  Establish Organization
    • agreement with host
      -secure start-up funds
      -hire staff
  2. Membership
    • Set Up Membership Guidelines
      - rates and benefits
      - database for processing membership
    • Membership Driveconduct on a regular basis to target groups
      - compile mailing lists
      - list membership opportunity in bulletins and on web sites
      - design, produce, send membership mailing 
  3.  Services
    • Produce Web site
      - explore potential areas for sponsorship and underwriting
    • Bulletin
      - produce sample bulletin to include as part of mailing
    • Form Library
      - plans, reports, bibliographies in the target interest areas.
      - books, subscribe to pertinent journals
      - images and project profiles on noteworthy projects
    • Develop working groups to determine content for distribution packages
      - i.e. pertinent examples, articles, guidelines, etc.
