Among the thousands of freeway retaining walls running through neighborhoods, only a few have gone beyond the style of "standard prison fortress." Scuri's new retaining wall in the Newport Way neighborhood of Bellevue, features coal shards and Jello molds in a quilt-like pattern that recalls local history and stands as an instant local landmark. Scuri's work over the past decade has pushed form-liner technology and converted many a bridge engineer to become a public art enthusiast.
