$10.5 Million Suite of Programs Set to Generate National Dialogue and Engage Key Stakeholders Over the Next Three Years

Tuesday, March 3, 2015

Americans for the Arts today announced Transforming America’s Communities Through the Arts, a comprehensive, three-year initiative to increase understanding of the value of the arts and investment in the arts.

The initiative will help leaders and the general public better understand arts and culture as central to creating and sustaining healthier, more vibrant communities in the United States. Over the course of 2015–2017, this $10.5 million initiative will activate a diverse set of programming spanning public, private, and non-profit sectors.

The framework of Transforming America’s Communities Through the Arts closely follows the strategic goals of Americans for the Arts. Through work with public and private sector partners, Americans for the Arts has identified a number of opportunities for the arts to play or continue to play an important role in issues that communities will address over the next few years, including diversity, education, infrastructure, healing and military, the economy, and many others. Americans for the Arts’ work through some dozen upcoming action projects will help address these issues directly. Stay tuned for a press release next week detailing one of the major initiatives of Transforming America's Communities - New Community Visions!
