Last week, ArtsWave hosted the 2nd annual CincySings, a Cincinnati region-wide choral event that pits corporate choirs against one another in a friendly competition. For the second year in a row, Drew Lachey, a celebrity Cincinnati native and arts supporter, hosted the event. Lachey is best known for being a member of the pop group 98 Degrees and as the crowned champion of season two of Dancing with the Stars.

Says Lachey: "Without (ArtsWave), the arts culture, the arts community here would not be able to thrive, to flourish the way it does. Growing up in the city, I was fortunate enough to able to take part in a lot of organizations that ArtsWave supports. Now, as a teacher and patron, I want to continue the effort of allowing kids to be touched by the arts and thrive and grow in the arts."

CincySings serves as a powerful way to engage the business community and individual employees through the arts. "The arts suffer in so many cities and it really is incredible to be supportive through my company, alongside other influential companies in Cincinnati. Any chance to promote the arts community brings awareness and encouragement to people of all ages and lifestyles", says Elizabeth Orsborn, a senior new business specialist and member of Great American Insurance Group's corporate choir, the winner of this year's CincySings (pictured).

In addition to engaging the employees of Cincinnati's business community, CincySings serves as a fundraiser for ArtsWaves' United Arts Fund campaign, which raises money for more than 100 local arts organizations each year. Though the tally for this year has not been finalized, last year's CincySings raised nearly $30,000 for the campaign. The goal for this year's campaign, which ends April 30, is $12.2 million.
