The Fourth Annual Mayors Arts Gala, a black-tie event co-presented by the Americans for the Arts and The United States Conference of Mayors.

The Mayors Arts Gala salutes the extraordinary contributions of leaders in the public and private sector who have significantly advanced the arts on a national, state and local level. The celebration brings together more than 800 guests and friends of the recipients of the 2001 Government Leadership in the Arts Awards.

Honorees:
Denver Mayor Wellington E. Webb, Local Arts Leadership Award
Connecticut Governor John G. Rowland, State Arts Leadership Award
Representative Norman D. Dicks (D-WA), Congressional Arts Leadership Award
VH1 President John Sykes, Recognition for Excellence in Arts Programs for Youth, for The VH1 Save The Music Foundation
President William Jefferson Clinton, Lifetime Achievement Award for Leadership in the Arts (will not be attending)
