Americans for the Arts Presents Emerging Leader Award to David Dombrosky
Las Vegas, NV — June 3, 2007 — At its annual meeting, Americans for the Arts presented its 2007 Emerging Leader Award to David Dombrosky, program director for contemporary arts and new initiatives at the Southern Arts Federation. The Emerging Leader Award was created to honor an individual who is a new and/or young leader, and to recognize his or her extraordinary work in the field of arts administration. The recipient demonstrates innovative thinking, a commitment to the advancement of the arts, exemplary leadership qualities, and has made a significant impact on their local, state, or national community through their professional work.
“Americans for the Arts has been a strong proponent for the advancement of new arts leadership and this award is a reflection of our commitment,” said Robert L. Lynch, president and CEO of Americans for the Arts. “David Dombrosky exemplifies the qualities that are needed to lead and advance the arts.”
Dombrosky co-founded the Emerging Arts Leaders of Atlanta. He also serves on the board of directors for the National Alliance for Media Arts and Culture, the Emerging Leader Council of Americans for the Arts, and writes for the Technology in the Arts blog established by Carnegie Mellon University’s Center for Arts Management and Technology. Prior to joining Southern Arts Federation in 1999, David worked with the Atlanta Coalition of Theatres, Jomandi Productions, and the Actors’ Company of Pennsylvania. He holds an M.A. in performance studies and B.A. degrees in psychology and speech communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The Americans for the Arts Emerging Leader Network works to identify and cultivate the next generation of arts leaders in America. It is an ideal way for new leaders to share their interests with others as they continue to develop their skills and their commitment to the arts. The Emerging Leader Program targets professionals who are either new to the field, with up to five years of experience, or are 35 years of age or younger.
