Ms. Linda P. Steele
Linda Steele oversees all community engagement, outreach, and arts education initiatives at ArtsMemphis. She comes to Memphis directly from New York City, where she helped to build a new private arts preschool and was a Fellow with the Arts Leadership Institute at Columbia while serving as executive director of Cool Culture, helping New York City families access museums and cultural institutions. Steele has also served in Development, Fundraising, Audience Development, and Community Relations roles in Chicago at Urban Gateways: Center for Arts Education and The Art Institute of Chicago, and began her career in arts marketing and community engagement at Playhouse Square Center in Cleveland, Ohio. She has presented on Audience Development And Diversity at The Arts & Business Council of Chicago; Strategic Grant-making for Community Transformation at the Alumni of Color Conference of the Harvard Graduate School of Education; and will be on the panel, How Arts Agencies Cultivate Young Donors and Donors of Color, at the Americans for the Arts National Conference in June. Linda is a graduate of the Harvard University School of Education and Amherst College.
