Ms. Colleen Fischer
Colleen Fischer is a native New Yorker with 13 years of experience in the visual and performing arts and works hard to promote the arts within every aspect of her community. Colleen grew up in Rochester, New York and earned a liberal arts education before graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Theatre Production and Design from Fredonia State College in western New York. In August 2006 she completed her Masters Degree in Education with a focus on arts education from the University of Houston.
Colleen currently serves as General Manager for Bayou City Performing Arts, an umbrella arts organization producing four different choral groups. As General Manager her position focuses most of her attention on marketing, the individual giving campaign, special events including fundraisers, concert performance management, and website development. Her previous experience includes Associate Director for Fresh Arts Coalition, scenic staff at the Alley Theatre, and Lead Scenic at the Festivals Company, producer of Houston's Shakespeare Festival.
Her greatest ability is that of problem solving and “Blue Sky-ing” any situation or scenario. In the arts world this usually translates into looking at a situation with a “sky’s the limit” attitude and making it workable in any given scenario for any organization. Recent notables include being a panelist on arts collaborations at the National Arts Marketing Conference in Los Angeles, April 2006.
