Ms. Kimberly Hedges
As an artist and art historian, Kimberly has long been inspired both professionally and personally by the arts and brings her commitment and talents to the mission of advancing the art in America as Vice President of Marketing, Communication, and Technology at Americans for the Arts. Kimberly has over two decades experience in caused-based organizations where there is a need for broad cooperative effort through use of sound planning, strong administration, and excellent communication. Kimberly specializes in website development, strategy, and marketing, as well as systems development and documentation. She is also experienced in database and network administration.
Kimberly's tenure with Americans for the Arts began in 2002 when she became the driving force behind the web offerings and strategies as Webmaster and Director of E-Commerce. In 2004 she expanded her roles to Vice President of Web Strategies overhauling the organizations technology infrastructure, implementing state of the art websites, a VoIP telephone systems including desk-top video conferencing, remote back-up systems, and the upgrade to a secure and sound network environment. From 2009-2014, she again expanded her role to take under her management marketing and communications. In her expanded role she ensured a social media marketing strategy is in place; placed a greater emphasis on branding Americans for the Arts; and worked with staff to better define the organization's diverse audiences for more targeted outreach efforts. In 2014, she shifted her focus back to web and techology strategies and has the pleaseure of working with a gifted team to build state of the art websites and maintain an enterprise level infrastructure. In 2011 she implemented netForum, a CRM to manage all the organizations business offerings.
Prior to starting at Americans for the Arts, Kimberly served as project manager at a consulting firm supporting the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Research and Development and the Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing (PATH). Her work focused on website and system development, as well as marketing projects for PATH. She spent three years as an arts educator at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, developing and managing public programs for adults and teens and overseeing the museum’s website. She has also worked at the Smithsonian Institution’s Office of Fellowships and Grants administering fellowship programs and the Corcoran Museum of Art’s Office of Development using her skills in database management, network administration, and fundraising.
Kim earned a M.A. in art history and museum studies at American University and a B.A. in art and art history at Hood College. She is an accomplished book as art and multi-media artist who makes her home in the Washington Metropolitan area.
