Shelley Toon Lindberg is a visual artist, teaching artist, and creative collaborator based in Hood River, Oregon. She serves as the Executive Director of Arts in Education of the Gorge and spends much of the time teaching art in communities throughout the Pacific Northwest. She loves working with students of all ages to explore interdisciplinary connections, environmental awareness, and intercultural understanding while asserting that we all have something of value to express through the arts. Her work as a visual artist is inspired by the natural world, while the written word often finds a way of creeping into her pieces no matter the medium. She views art as social practice and enjoys collaborative community art as a venue for expression. Her community art pieces can be found in schools, restaurants, hospitals, and public spaces throughout Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. Toon Lindberg studied fine art at the University of Colorado at Boulder and Oregon College of Art and Craft as well as Interdisciplinary studies in education, art, and communications at Marylhurst University.
