Marketing and Communications Intern
Americans for the Arts
Jasmyn Shumate is the Fall 2016 Marketing Intern at Americans for the Arts. As a creative narrator, her job is to document and frame life’s moments and make them tangible to her audience. The moments that often go unspoken are those that provide the most dramatic impact on life’s journey, yet rarely do people consider opening up and telling others about them. Jasmyn utilizes her creative energy to help improve the media footprint around social impact issues using multimedia platforms. To do this type of work is what fuels her as a creative. Feeding off of her favorite MC of all-time, Tupac Shakur, “I'm not saying I’m gonna change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world.”
Jasmyn’s work reflects the intimacy between liberation and healing. Sharing this utopian vision, her deepest aspiration is to inspire a transformation that heals and bonds other visionaries to express their most authentic self visually, orally and through written word. Her mission in life is to create work that honors and empowers her community, validating experiences through consciousness-raising creative productions.
