Masha Raj is the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Americans for the Arts. She has worked in the nonprofit and private sectors internationally and has extensive professional experience in fundraising, marketing, business development, and corporate communications. A native of Russia, she started her professional career in Washington, DC in 1998 and spent eight years working for DC-based nonprofit organizations, including a think tank (American Institute for Contemporary German Studies) and historic house museum (Dumbarton). In 2007, Masha moved to the Netherlands to study international business management and gain corporate experience. She worked as business development manager for global law firms, most recently in Moscow, Russia.
Masha holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University in the Netherlands. During her MBA studies she focused on the investigation of the art auction business model, art collecting, and art investment and worked as marketing consultant at Sotheby’s - the world’s leading art auction house - in New York. Masha received her Bachelor of Arts degree in German Studies from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA. She is interested in fine art, especially German expressionism and Russian avant-garde, and is fluent in Russian and German.
