Creative Forces: NEA Military Healing Arts Network

This program is a partnership of the National Endowment for the Arts and the Department of Defense that serves the unique and special needs of military patients and veterans who have been diagnosed with Traumatic Brain Injury and psychological health conditions, as well as their families and caregivers. A core component of the initiative will be to support creative arts therapy programs at a total of 12 military and veteran treatment facilities by 2017. Locations that are currently anticipated to participate in the program include Alaska, California, Maryland, North Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Art Therapist – Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska

Americans for the Arts on behalf of Creative Forces: The NEA Military Healing Arts Network is soliciting proposals for an Art Therapist at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.

The primary service covered by this agreement is the implementation of an Art Therapy program, including both in person and telehealth services, at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson that will investigate how creative arts therapies and various healing arts models developed and tested at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC), and successfully replicated at the Intrepid Spirti-1 at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, can be adapted and delivered to service members, veterans and families at the designated expansion sites.    Creative Arts Therapists working in the Creative Forces project will provide clinical care, support community network development and engagement activities and coordinate research across these venues with national project leaders and each other to advance this mission.
