This article reports on the findings of two surveys regarding salaries paid to executives and staff of nonprofit organizations. The Compensation and Benefits Survey by the Chronicle of Philanthropy found that the salaries paid to top non-profit executives increased by more than twice the rate of inflation in 2001. Of the 282 large nonprofits in this study, 34 paid their CEOs $500,000 or more. Data from a second study, the NPT Salary Survey by the NonProfit Times , indicates that pay raises for the average nonprofit staff member were far more modest. The article includes a
