The attached remarks are an expanded version of a talk delivered at the New York State Theater of the Lincoln Center of Performing Arts on July 5, 1967, before an audience of teachers and administrators.|It stresses the renaissance of the humanities and the performing arts in American Society and the role of the schools in attaining man's highest aspiration, a cultural democracy.
