National Arts in Education Week is a nationwide celebration of the transformative power of the arts in education.

Passed by Congress in 2010, this week is designated to highlight the benefits of and need for the arts in education so that elected officials and educational decision-makers nationwide can find ways to support equitable arts access for students of all backgrounds.

During this week, Americans for the Arts will amplify the value of the arts in education through a series of activities. Here are ways to support Arts in Education Week in 2023:

Monday, September 11:

National Arts in Education Week kick-off conversation at Anacostia’s We Act Radio studios with D.C. arts and community leaders, including:

Kristina Noell, Executive Director, Anacostia BID

Christie Walser, Executive Director, Project Create

Mazi Mutafa, Executive Director, Words, Beats & Life

Ashlee McKinnon, Director of Education Programs, DC Collaborative for Arts & Humanities; and 

Tooshar Swain, Director of Public Policy, Americans for the Arts
