In this Season of Gratitude...

Monday, December 16, 2013

With 2013 ending, we at Americans for the Arts find ourselves grateful for so many great arts achievements this year. There are so many partners doing amazing work in towns, cities, and states across the country--and in reflecting on this work, we wanted to especially thank the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and its staff for serving as the national lynchpin for the whole US arts field. The work that the NEA staff does each year to advance arts education, commission crucial case-making research, fund the integration of art in communities through placemaking initiatives, and support local and state arts agencies makes our advocacy and field education efforts more meaningful and impactful. In 2013 alone, we estimate (based on 2012's numbers) that the NEA provided 2,000 grants totaling just over $100 million in support of local and state arts initiatives all across the country. So THANK YOU to the hardworking staff at the National Endowment for the Arts!

Are you grateful for the NEA, too?  Then tell them!  Take a moment to use the hashtag #thanksNEA on Twitter and Facebook to tell everyone how the NEA made your art and work possible in 2013!
