On March 18, the House Interior Appropriations Subcommittee held its Public and Outside Witness hearing to receive testimony on programs funded by the subcommittee, including the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).

Karen Hanan, Executive Director of Washington State Arts Commission (ArtsWA) in Olympia, WA, testified in support of federal funding of no less than $155 million for the NEA, a minimum increase of $9 million from current funding. Read her testimony here.

Melia Tourangeau, President and CEO of Utah Symphony | Utah Opera in Salt Lake City, UT also testified in support of $155 million in federal funding for the NEA, as did Anita Stewart, Executive & Artistic Director of Portland Stage in Portland, ME.

The committee will now work to advance legislation funding the NEA—and all the programs under the subcommittee’s jurisdiction—for FY 2016.
