StubHub Celebrates the Power of Giving… and the Arts
StubHub recently launched a donation campaign with the aim of raising funds for three grassroots music organizations that support music education. Each download of StubHub’s free app, StubHub Music, will result in a $1 donation to one of these music organizations through January 31, 2015. The Greater Hartford Arts Council Is Creating a “Work of Art” at Aetna
Americans for the Arts board member and Vice President and Head of Community Relations & Urban Marketing at Aetna Floyd Green shared with us an article from the Greater Hartford Arts Council (GHAC). GHAC recently partnered with Aetna to engage employees in the creation of a new piece of art to be installed on Aetna’s campus upon its completion. Deadline Fast Approaching for the 2015 NABE Scholarship!
Know of a promising economics student with a passion for the arts? Encourage him/her to apply now for the National Association of Business Economics (NABE)/Americans for the Arts Scholarship—awarded to a college or graduate student studying economics and the arts. The scholarship encourages the integration of the arts into the economic education process and is presented to recent high school graduates and college undergraduates who are majoring in economics and/or the arts. The award recipient must come from an economically disadvantaged household, have attended a public school, have participated in arts, have excelled academically, and have formally declared the intent to study economics. This $5,000 scholarship will be presented in March 2015 at the NABE conference in Washington, DC. For more details and to apply, visit AmericansForTheArts.org. Application deadline is January 16, 2015.

Announcing Vans' 2015 Custom Culture Competition
Know of a local high school that should receive $50,000 to support its art program? Encourage them to register today for Vans’ 2015 Custom Culture competition! The Vans Custom Culture competition has two goals: inspire high school students to embrace creativity through art and design and raise awareness about the need for deeper support of arts education in schools around the country. Now through February 13, 2015 (noon PST), high school art teachers around the country are encouraged to register their students for the 2015 competition by visiting the Vans Custom Culture website. Students will receive four pairs of blank canvas Vans shoes to design. Teachers will upload photos of their students’ finished shoes via the Vans Custom Culture website for voting. Finalists will travel to New York City for the Vans Custom Culture final event in June 2015. The top school will receive $50,000 for their visual arts program and the chance to have their shoes produced and sold in Vans stores and Vans will donate $4,000 each to the four runner-up schools.
