Flame
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Flame's helical form is composed of dichroic (exhibiting different colors by reflected or transmitted light) glass joined together with a steel framework. Acting as a beacon and gateway to those entering and leaving Arlington's Ballston neighborhood, Flame's appearance is in constant flux as lighting conditions shift. As the sun strikes the glass, prismatic effects create a shimmering appearance, while internal lighting illuminates the sculpture after dark.
