Lori Brooks

Director of Communications
Oklahoma Contemporary

Oklahoma Contemporary Director of Communications Lori Brooks and her team develop and implement Oklahoma Contemporary’s public relations, brand and advertising strategies to enhance the reputation, broaden awareness and increase the visibility of Oklahoma Contemporary as it moves to its new home at NW 11th and Broadway.

Lori has a background in public relations, marketing and journalism. Her resume includes stints on the copy desks of The Albuquerque Tribune and The Seattle Times, director of communications for a college at the University of Oklahoma and work with collegiate journalists and media professionals nationwide. As associate executive director of College Media Association, Lori planned and executed marketing, branding, public relations, awards and events for the organization, including management of two national conventions (with 300+ sessions and thousands of attendees), workshops and other educational opportunities.

Lori also served as associate director and features adviser at OU Student Media, where she oversaw features publications and students. Her staffs created the top-ranked Sooner yearbook and multiple niche products for a variety of audiences. She also handled recruiting, outreach and communication for Student Media and managed strategic planning for projects such as circulation of The Oklahoma Daily.

An experienced leader in strategic communications and nonprofit administration, Lori has a depth and breadth of skills in print, online and social media as well as brand management. She is a born storyteller known for keen attention to style and detail. Most of her career has been spent working for and with nonprofits. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in news communication from the University of Oklahoma and lives in Norman.
