Caron Atlas works to support and stimulate arts and culture as an integral part of social justice. She directs the Arts & Democracy Project, codirects the New York Naturally Occurring Cultural District Working Group, consults with foundations, and teaches at New York University and Pratt Institute. Previously she worked at Appalshop and was the founding director of the American Festival Project. She also has worked with National Voice, Pratt Center for Community Development, Animating Democracy, and Fractured Atlas. She is a board member of freeDimensional and an active member of the Freelancers Union. Atlas was a Warren Weaver Fellow at the Rockefeller Foundation and holds a MA from the University of Chicago.
